We've moved!
Sorry to disappoint anyone wanting to trek in Yorkshire, but the Dales
ponies have moved down to sunny Devon. Here at West Steart Farm we have
acres of space to breed more Dales ponies and also our very cute native
breed of sheep, the Ryeland sheep. The farmhouse is a stunning example
of Devon hospitality with wonderful space for you to relax and comfortable
en suite guest rooms with views to die for.
We welcome people to come and stay with us in our home, enjoy the life
on the farm and explore the area with our trusty Dales ponies. The farm
is next door to a racing stables and it is quite likely that you'll
wake to the sound of galloping hooves up the mile long woodchip gallop.
We're keen on racing too and have a couple of racehorses of our own,
so visitors can enjoy listening to the banter and plans. For those who
don't want a lay in, you can watch the horses go up the gallops.
We hope to be up and running for summer 2010 and welcome enquiries
from Jan 2010.
If you fancy following us down here for a short riding break or a longer
riding holiday here's some reasons for doing so: -
- Located in the stunning Exe valley with its beautiful wooded slopes
providing varied and fun riding over rolling hills, on quiet tracks
and in old woodland inhabited by Red Deer!
- Close to Exmoor with its amazing space for horse riding giving riders
a real sense of freedom and a chance to ride where the Exmoor ponies
and Red deer roam!
- Close to Dartmoor and its dramatic Moorland and Tors!
- Close to world heritage beaches and coastland!
- Wonderful quiet lanes with considerate drivers for both horse riders
and drivers alike!
- We have found a forgotten part of the country where it really is
like stepping back in time, 3 cars passing you constitutes a rush
hour. Everyone living there is very much involved in country life!
