What makes Yorkshire Dales Trekking Centre so special? - why the ponies of course!

The herd consists of "Dales Ponies" a native but rare breed. These weight-carrying cobs are not only bred for the terrain and climate, with their long flowing manes and tails and very hairy legs, but also have just the right blend of confidence and calmness to make them perfect trekking companions. They are trust worthy and loyal and everyone falls in love with them. They can adapt to their riders and terrain knowing exactly when to pick up speed and when to take it easy encouraging riders of all levels of experience to have confidence in them.

Yorkshire Dales Trekking Centre has its own breeding programme and has so far bred 5 of their own "Malhamdale" ponies. A lot of care is taken to train and school all the ponies so that riders can be sure to be mounted on a responsible pony, although principally they are schooled for trekking and endurance they are not embarrassed in the show ring and have a thorough basis in dressage.
